Is a native of Long Island, New York,  and is anAssistant Professor in the Department of Justice, Law & Criminology at American University in Washington, D.C., an Affiliated Scholar at Urban Institute, and an Affiliate with the Center for Advancing Correctional Excellence! at George Mason University. Previously, she worked as a Deputy Corrections Officer in Savannah, GA where she supervised male and female residents with diverse classification statuses

Sarah Lynch

Sarah Lynch is a PhD student in the Justice, Law, and Criminology department at American University. She holds a master's degree in psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Her research interests mainly include political violence, violent extremism, and methodology.

Noemi Delorey

Noemí Delorey is a rising Junior majoring in Legal studies and is pursuing a career as an immigration attorney. She was born in Brazil and raised throughout South America. She now resides in Washington, D.C..

Advika Punje

Advika Punje is a second-year student at American University majoring in CLEG and Data Sciences in JLC. She is also part of the 3-year scholars Politics, Policy, and Law program in SPA. She is the captain of the American Bhangra Crew, a competitive dance team.

Ameerah Adetoro

Ameerah Adetoro is a senior at American University pursuing a B.A. degree in Justice and Law (with a concentration in Criminal Justice) and minoring in Sociology. She seeks to take part in rectifying the justice system's historic promotion of inequity, but also to analyze how interacting with institutions of the law can curate varying outcomes in the social world depending on one's identity. Ameerah is enthusiastic about utilizing her knowledge, integrated with her personal experiences as a Black woman, to contribute to the literature on race, racism, and the critical influence of both on contemporary society.

Lexie Osbourne

Lexie Osbourne is a rising senior CLEG major at American University and is originally from Queens, NY. She aspires to become an immigration or criminal lawyer, but is open to other career paths in the legal sector. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and watching different genres of films.

Fiona McLeod

Fiona McLeod is a second-year master’s student studying education and criminal justice policy. Away from the academy, she serves as a lobbyist for small non-profits around the country; fighting for much needed funding and legislative support.

Joshua Dietz

Joshua Dietz is a graduate student at American University completing his MA program in Sociology, Research, and Practice in 2023. He assists with research in the Department of Justice, Law & Criminology, the Center for Latin American and Latino Studies, and the Immigration Lab. With a professional background in digital marketing, he has leveraged his experience as a strategic analyst to transition into social science research. Joshua is a self-proclaimed “data geek” who loves to advocate through interpretative analysis and storytelling. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Temple University, in Philadelphia, and he now resides in Maryland.

Morella Harris

Morella Harris is a rising senior at American University majoring in health promotion sciences and minoring in communication. She enjoys researching and exploring the intersections of justice, nutrition, and health in correctional settings. In her spare time, she enjoys competitive bodybuilding, cooking, and growing her personal training business.
